Teen Moms & Sex Tapes??

                                                         MTV's Teen Mom Farrah Abramham

I know I'm on a role with the post today but this really got my attention. In case some of you are not familiar with the hit MTV show Teen Mom it chronicles the lives of young mothers and there daily lives as a teenage moms.

                                                                 Kim Kardashian

One of the break out stars from the show Farrah Abraham's has just sold her sex tape to be  produced by Vivid Entertainment which co-stars porn star James Dean read more. Vivid is also the same company behind Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashinan's sex tape which launched both of them into the limelight.

I'm not here to bash anyone for the manner in which they chose to make money. However, I just find it amazing  shows like Teen Mom are even on air. I have watched Teen Mom here and there and what I walked away from it  is I hope young women would not follow that as an example of what real life would be for a teen mom. There will be no cameras following them nor will they be paid by MTV or any other company for having a child. How do you guys think shows like Teen Mom are influencing young girls?

100 HUGS FOR BOSTON - The Results

100 Hugs for Boston was a huge success. I gave all my love to this city, and it gave it right back. I originally planned on this being a photography project, capturing each hug on film. But then seeing how raw emotions were on-site, i decided firmly against.
We were very near the bombing site. On our first day we walked by simply because Copley Square was the place we needed to go to get things near where we were staying. Memorials were up; people had placed hundreds of bouquets, candles, messages, running shoes, shirts, messages of love, large signs to write your own messages of support on... Tons of stuff at both of the bombing sites. People in tears, hugging.... Things were very shocking and sad.

Every other person there had a camera on, and not to sound snotty... But they were usually very large Nikons/Canons that the person had no idea how to use. They were snapping pictures of everything. Of the boarded up windows, blown out from the horrid attack... Of people gathering around, holding each other, still in disbelief for what had happened... Of it all, and I thought it was so *grotesque* of them. Like taking pictures of people mourning at a funeral. Seriously, What. The. Hell.

All the news crews were there too. CNN, Fox News, etc. I know they have a duty to report.
I decided at that moment to work on just a *soul* level. I talked to people, I listened, I hugged, I cried. I wanted to add some positivity if I could, but I also only wanted to emit and reflect and not capture things for my own gain, at all. This was a giving project, 100%.
I even printed stickers to give out in Boston, but decided when I was there to just keep them (even though I spent $40 on them, LOL) because handing them out would have been only doing so for my benefit and that is just against everything that I am for.

 I love you Boston.

Happy Anniversary to Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon

I call this look effortless sexy

Love is in the air and the always fabulous song bird Mariah Carey and hubby Nick Cannon are celebrating fives years of marriage click here for details. LuluBellaWomensboutique  highlights successful women because we are about celebrating women.

Mariah looking beautiful in this white ensemble with her hubby Nick Cannon

Mrs. Cannon was defiantly one who I idolized as a child. Her voice inspired me to grab my brush and belt out tunes like "Someday".  However, Mariah's skills don't stop with singing, she writes and produces most of her song. Even though love is the subject of most of her songs, Carey has penned tunes about racism, world hunger, death, social alienation and spirituality with songs like "Make it Happen". Inaddition, she has proven herself to be a savvy business woman by launching her popular fragrance line in 2007 and now she's a judge on American Idol. Oh and you can add  mother of twins and style icon to her resume as well. Even though Carey married later in life and had her twins later as well, she is one of many examples that women can have it all.Which is why I wrote this post. Which are some your favorite Mariah Carey's tunes? Do you think that successful female entertainers inspire women to pursue our own goals?

It's My Birthday!!!

Yep. It's ma burfday today :D

I have reached the grand old age of 24!

Life as a 23 year old has been... ok.

Highlights:

  • Spent my 23rd birthday in France, Grenoble to be more precise. Had a really lovely time visiting my friend there.
  • Started volunteering at a local primary school and eventually got offered a paid position, which I started 3 weeks ago. Got my foot in the door.
  • Got inspired and started a British sign language course and have just completed my NVQ Level 1, and I'm continuing onto the Level 2 qualification. I'm having so much fun learning it, and have met some great people through it.
  • Have rediscovered my love for reading thanks to my Kindle and doing this blog :)
Lowlights:
  • Tried, and failed, to get onto a PGCE teaching course to start in September. Back to square one...
  • Have been working 3 jobs (paid or otherwise) all year. Busy busy busy! I haven't had a proper weekend in months. Can't wait for the 2-week holiday I'll be having at the end of May.
Well, looking back, the highlights are outnumbering the lowlights, which is encouraging. I'm really looking forward to life as a 24 year old. Got lots of plans in the pipeline, so BRING IT ON!

Boston Style vs. Chicago Style vs. Detroit Style

I freaking loved Boston. Best city ever. So gorgeous. Awesome. Everything.

It's definitely got it's own style though. I mean, I was only there for a few days, but I swear I saw about 3 trillion girls with cigarette pants and ballet flats on with a trench over top. Just like Liv, below.
It kind of makes sense. Boston is a preppy city, right? and this is a preppy look. It looked great. But just something I really wouldn't wear myself.
Or trousers with the ballet flats too. But just ballet flats ballet flats ballet flats ALL THE WAY. I felt like the Boston style was very "mature" too. We went to a comedy show, and most of the girls there were way younger than me, but all very "buttoned up" in these trousers and trenches and flats. I'm sure that they all manage hedge-funds, whatever the hell that is. There are a lot of brick and cobblestone sidewalks in this city, safety first!
It's cool. It's all very interesting to watch and notice and witness.

Then I was in the *WINDY CITY* of Chicago... for a couple hours.
In just that span of time, I saw a definite shift in sartorial expression. The chicago chick was WEARING HEELS, AND DON'T YOU FORGET IT. Like this...
Flowy tops, skinny pants and HIGH heels.
Chicago chicks had their accessories on point too. Great bags and statement jewelry.
This also is not a look that I would do, but I have respect for it.

FINALLY BACK TO DETROIT...
I personally think there is a very **Detroit** style. I love it. It's a little rough, functional (warm), facial hair for the men is encouraged, a lot of vintage elements. Here's some examples:
Myself: Vintage Dress, Functional yet cute jacket, leggings, and cute yet functional boots.
By the way, how do you like my new hair? :-)

For the men, used totally without permission. so sorry Freddy. Mr. Fortune. He always has amazing hair, amazing vintage, great style. Every single time I've ever seen him, he has looked amazing.
Actually the above look is really really tame for him, but it's so great, you get the point.

Another couple of amazing Detroit musicians... Passalacqua.
Facial hair on-point. Flannel. But they just have it put together perfectly. It's good.

Final Detroit style example. Myan Funn. forgot to ask permission for this too.
I'm friends with his awesome sister, and I've always told her what a *Style Star* I've thought her brother is, and she always laughs. I just love the bandana, the slim fit T, Power-beard. This is very Detroit and I love it.

Lifescouts: Music

It was Music Month on Lifescouts and there were lots of badges to collect. I don't think I'll get many because they are mostly instrument badges, but let's see!

Clarinet Badge
I can play the clarinet! I started when I was... about 9 but stopped when I was 16. I got to Grade 3 with it. I did enjoy playing, in the orchestra and the school wind band (nerd alert!), but I wasn't too good at doing any practice.

Piano Badge
I tried to learn to play the piano when I was about 14 but, again, I didn't practice enough. Oh yeah, the teacher that was teaching me just stopped turning up! Which was nice... so yeah I can play like one song on the piano.

Concert Badge
I've been to a few concerts in my time, and there is just something magical about the shared experience at a concert. So, I've seen:
  • Spice Girls
  • Steps
  • Busted (with McFly supporting)
  • Girls Aloud
  • Westlife (twice)
  • Kanye West
  • Stereophonics
  • Miley Cyrus
  • Darren Criss
  • Take That
  • Robbie Williams
  • S Club 7
Karaoke Badge
So I haven't done 'proper' karaoke, like in a karaoke bar, but I can do a mean rendition of Beyoncé's Crazy in Love on SingStar. Wuh-oh wuh-oh wuh-oh oh no no!

So that's Music. Not many but quality over quantity... *shifty look at my concert history*

2013 White House Correspondents Dinner & Vanity Fair Bash Fashion Highlights

I hope everyone had a safe and relaxing weekend. I found myself finishing up some school assignments. It appears there's never enough time to do everything. Over the weekend I notice the White House  held the annual correspondent's dinner for 2013. I couldn't help but notice how chic Michelle Obama looked. She wore a simple black beaded sequins gown with a beautiful up do and bangs. I've always been a fan of simple chic and Mrs. Obama's style exemplifies this. There's no doubt since the president took office in 2008, Michelle Obama's style has redefined the style and traditional fashion role of First Lady of the United States. If I'm correct she was the first to bear her arms in the official White House portrait in 2008. Many people were not thrilled the First Lady showed her arms. Whether you agree with it or not Mrs.Obama style fits her own needs  and I applaud any woman who marches to the beat of her own drum. What are some of your favorite Michelle Obama looks? For more pics and coverage on Mrs. Obama's dress click here.

Earth Day 2013

In keeping up with yesterdays theme of visiting national gardens and appreciating the beauty spring brings in with blooming flowers, I wanted to write a post about earth day. April 22,2013 was earth day. There's a huge movement toward using organic products and eating healthy. I recall when I was in 6th grade and decided to become a vegetarian that I was a minority. Eating foods like quinoa and tofu was not popular. How has the organic movement influnce your lifestyle or has it?  How do you deifne living a more organic lifestyle?

Top Ten Tuesday - Top Ten Books I Liked MORE/LESS Than I Thought I Would

Tuesday has come around yet again so it is time for Top Ten Tuesday hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

Top ten books I liked MORE/LESS than I thought I would.

I really enjoyed this week's topic. It really got me thinking about what I had been expecting when I picked up a book.

  • Amy and Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson. LESS. I think I didn't like this as much as I expected, even though I really wanted to love it.
  • The Perks of being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. LESS. Now, I loved the film and I did like the book, but I don't know, I feel like I missed something when I read it... it's on my To Re-Read list.
  • Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. MORE. I just adored this book.
  • Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins. LESS. Just didn't live up to its predecessor for me...
  • Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion. MORE. I couldn't work out how a zombie/human relationship could work, but this has proved that it most definitely can.
  • The Life of Pi by Yann Martel. MORE. A revelation of a book in terms of taking you on a journey in several different ways. It was a joy to read, especially considering I read it on my iPhone!
  • Geekhood: Close Encounters of the Girl Kind by Andy Robb. MORE. I was a bit dubious about how good this book was going to be after I bought it on a whim, but the whim definitely paid off. I was laughing from the first page right through to the end.
  • The Boleyn Inheritance by Phillipa Gregory. LESS. After The Other Boleyn Girl, I was hungry for more Tudor stuff, and while this did fulfil the craving, it didn't have the impact of TOBG.
  • Matched by Ally Condie. LESS. I'd heard good things about this series, but so far it hasn't lived up to my expectations.
  • Paper Towns by John Green. LESS. Even though I wax lyrical about John Green, I felt this book was a bit formulaic and I just didn't enjoy it as much as his other books.

Nordstrom Rack Grande Opening - GLC!

THANK YOU JAYYYYYYZUSSSSSSSS! There is now a Nordstrom Rack at GLC.
Nordstrom Rack
4852 S Baldwin Rd
Lake Orion
(248) 920-7000

It just opened. I went right away. Thank goodness, now I don't have to drive down to Troy for the AHMAZING SHOE SELECTION, Great Dresses, So many things! I love that place.
I had to shop...
First I found this Tangerine Dream of a dress. I love the jeweled neckline and keyhole, but as you can see this is just not fit for me. The space in the dress for your butt and hips is pretty much hitting at my waist. :-(((((

Found another fun dress, this one the seaming is fitting me better. I believe this was a Calvin Klein, it had a great *racer back* detail with a exposed golden zipper. I like the kind of Ikat-y print, it's so cool. But then I was like, "I have SO MANY COCKTAIL dresses like this."

Fine, I'll try some maxis...
This one is also by Calvin Klein, It was like wearing a **really really really** long tank top. Yes, of course it was comfy, but I don't like it hitting right above my ankle like that. I feel like it should skim the floor if it is a proper maxi. right?

This maxi I liked much better. but still I think it's hitting a little too high. I don't want to look like a dork, obviously. I like the diagonal stripes at the collar and waist. and this one had a zip and a silky jersey fabric. Not just a stretchy cotton.

Whatchu really go to Nordstrom Rack is for the SHOES. We spent some quality time in the shoe section, and since the platforms are falling from favor for single-soles... There were TONS of *sick-nasty* power heels priced SUPER WELL.
I loved these tan Enzo Angiolini's with the Neon Sole. SO SO FABULOUS!!
But they are going out of style, so back to the Rack you go.

Boston Street Style - I'm so excited

You know more than anything I love *Street Style* = the way that people put themselves together for everyday outings. Espesh when those ensembles have MAXIMUM MOXIE AND FLARE.

I've started packing, and for inspiration I checked out a couple AWESOME Boston Street Style Blogs, check them out. I mean, THESE PEOPLE KNOW HOW TO DRESS. I'm so excited to see them in the flesh and spot my own Street Style All-Stars of Boston!

Here are the Boston Street Style Blogs I liked the best:

Look at this beauty, below! I love the addition of the lace top over the maxi dress. That takes the look to the *next level*. Bravo.

Oooh La La, Mr. Man! Omg, I can't say enough about this look. I love the "Italian Cut" Pants. The suit with the unbuttoned contrast placket shirt, the trench, just amazing top to toe.

See how tiny her waist looks!? Such is the power of the skater skirt. I love it. The pleats with the patterned tights and granny-boots. I usually disapprove of footwear that I saw in "Reality Bites", but since she was probably not even born, she gets a pass.

Not quite sure if this is a girl or a boy, and I love it. Lavender skinnies and the bleached hair, it's such an elfen look, but toughened, so much subversion going on. I love it.

I love the "I KNOW I look fabulous" facial expression. And she does. The top buttoned to the neck offsets the shorts and is anchored by the knee-highs and camo anorak. So good.
and a pink carnation!!? the ultimate addition. muah.
