Female Celebrity Style: TaQuita Thorns

Happy Friday!!

TaQuita Thorns has a power house voice and style to equally match. From Detroit, you may remember Thorns from her time on MTV’s Making the Band III followed by her own self titled reality show The TaQuita & Kaui Show which aired in 2007.

Bright and Bold this image of TaQuita Thorns emphasis the r&b singers fancy side as we look at her beautiful white fur coat, with a jewel encrusted feather crown that reminds me of the 1920s because of the pearls. Her make-up is tastefully done and the bright pink on her smooth mahogany skin...simply a beautiful contrast.

So I thought a post about the fashion forward TaQuita Thorns would be refreshing because she is a woman who marches to the beat of her own drum. As I like to say fashion is subjective, fun and a personal statement. Even with all the new trends it’s important to make your own statement in fashion.

It’s rare a female entertainer isn’t meticulously put together but TaQuita Thorns has an eclectic style of her own as her cloths express her style and mood at any given second. True to herself Thorns fashion is a cross between music legends Tina Turner, James Brown and late Tejano singer Selena. She’s known for wearing colorful and playful fashions by incorporating what she describes as “rough and fancy” textiles into her fashion. The rough textiles were inspired by the singer’s humble roots from Detroit, while fancy textures include furs and silks. Never a dull movement Thorns also loves her accessories such as headpieces, scarves and crowns. Moreover, the singer is a fan of thrift stores and boutiques where she finds one of kind pieces she adds and mixes into her wardrobe. Even though, Thorns style is unique she’s a woman who loves comfort over mainstream style any day.

This is a beautiful photo of Thorns. I love her make- up because it’s clean and minimum. She also has a tone body and a warm smile. This ensemble has glitz and glam yet it remains street and approachable. I think the boots and the necklace gives it a slightly dominatrix feel. I could see Tina Turner wearing pieces such as this sparkly top and glittery pants back during the "Proud Mary" era. The attention to detail is very interesting and well done.

Upon the release of her debut album Rough & Fancy Thorns style is sure to inspire and influence many to explore and define what our own personal style is.  Enjoy your weekend!
