Designer Crush Du Jour: Dion Lee

Sometimes I think the world is balanced, and that qualities of man are divvied up fairly, like you know:
  • Really Athletic People are Stupid
  • Really Pretty People aren't Talented
  • Really Nerdy People get to be Smart... etc etc

But then guys like this come along... I mean what a man-beauty.

AND HIS GARMENTS ARE SO MIND-BLOWING!! HE'S A GENIUS!! LOOOOK!!!!
All of these pieces are from his Spring/Summer 2014 collection:

He says he's very inspired by architecture and construction. That is obviously evident.
It's almost like he is using the female for as another medium to build on when constructing these pieces. I love the top on the Right above, you can see the swoops and topography, it's really beautiful.
See the detail and the flow? I am so curious of how that would feel on!

Mr. Lee says he loves contrast, which you can see here. The *Dead Seckzy* of the cut of the bodice of this dress is so different than the ethereal material that it's made out of.

I love all of these Looks so much. But I wonder... With the very specific folds and tucks needing to go on purposeful anatomical landmarks, how does this work for production? I just think of myself and how every dress I have I need to belt about an acre south of where the waist was stitched. :-(

There are really gorgeous though, I love how the dresses are cut close and show off the body beautifully without being garish.

This jacket is so GORGEOUS!! I would wear that in a hot second. I really am going to seek out his designs to try on, I'd love to see how they feel on the body.

omg, this skirt above is so awesome. it reminds me of the old CAD from drafting class in high school. I want to wear that thing EVERY DAMN DAY. I wonder if the orange is a different fabric applique?

The LEATHER!!! Slap My Face!! I wonder if I could stuff my jugs into this! This is such a knockout piece. I could see my favie Giovanna Battaglia...
rocking these looks! AHHHHHH I LOVE!!

Kerry Washington Best Dress At Emmy's

Washington looked completely radiant at the 2013 Emmy's. Click on the link to get the look.

Happy Monday!!

I hope everyone had a safe and relaxing weekend. I know I'm covering the Emmy's late but I have to say best dress goes to Ms. Kerry  Washington. From head to toe Washington just blew me away. If I'm not mistaken Washington said that she was a late bloomer to fashion. It wasn't until she went to the library and studied the history of fashion until she finally "got it." Well Ms. Washington J.O.B well done. What are you thoughts? Are there any fashion late bloomers in the house?

Film Review: Girl Most Likely

Synopsis: Kristen Wiig, Annette Benning, Matt Dillon, Darren Criss, Shari Springer Berman (dir.),
Robert Pulcini (dir.)

Certificate: 12A (PG-13)

Rating: 7/10

Overall: A funny and heart-warming film about family, love and acceptance. Even though I'm definitely biased, Darren Criss's Lee steals the show.

Drag Queen Bingo Greatest Hits

I love Drag Queen style.

Let's see... there's the classic: Lady Bunny

The Modern Icon of Drag: RuPaul

And the new generation, including but not limited to: LaGanja Estranja

and Detroit's own: Hershae Chocolatae

I'm going to Drag Queen Bingo on Friday hosted by the Fabulous Lauren Jacobs, seen here with Stonewash:

What do you wear to an event like this?

You don't want to (AND YOU CAN'T ANYWAY) outshine the Queen herself, but you want to celebrate the mood and the fun and the colorful amazingness that is Drag... So here is what I've done in the past:

Hilton Hollis Dress with 3 skinny belts in a classy as hell bathroom selfie...

David Meister halter with images of Venice Italy...

Chanel-esque tweed cocktail dress with bowtie & tuxedo bolero ...

Always bright colors...

Me and my stylish Lady Friends...

The sash said "Birthday Lady", but then the "Y" fell off. So "Birthday Lad", totes approp for DQB

This is from the ONE time I actually WON!! 1960s Pucci Print dress under a purple shirtdress

So much fun, I can't wait til friday!!!!

Favorite Recipes For Fall

Happy Tuesday!

If you live on the east coast fall is usally a time when the crock pots come and the aroma of stews deck the halls of most of our homes. West coast dwellers are mostly exempt because most never experience cold weather.

However, eastcaost dwellers what are some of you favorite recipes for the fall? Do you have any family recipres that you like to prepare tp kick of the beginning of the fall  season? I think my favorite is proably sweet potatoe pie or moms rasin dumplings with vanilla ice cream.

**EMMYS 2013** My Top 10 Best Dressed

After I awoke from my post-bday lunch vodka nap, I saw on Twitter a flurry of high ranking Fashion Editors ragging on A-Listers for evening gown choices....

and I knew it must be EMMYS NIGHT!!! YAYYAYAYYAYAYAYY!!! I love redcarpet fash!

Damn, everyone looked good. I loved it. Such drama. Many mermaid gowns. Lots of fun. It was spectacular. Here are my FAVIES:

1. Skyler *Freaking* White in Romona Keveza
ok ok ok, her real name is Anna Gunn. But I just adore when actors can make such a departure from their own persona for a role. This IS VERY MUCH NOT A SKYLER LOOK. It's an Anna look, and that is wonderful. The worst is when an actor just plays "themselves" forever (like Jennifer Aniston), is that really acting. But really I just love the snot out of Breaking Bad and everyone on it so there.

2. My forever love Christina Hendricks in my other forever love Christian Siriano
I want Christian to design something for me so that I look like a perfect coke-bottle hourglass. I mean DAYUM. Ahhh, and I love Christina's *brown-butter toasted caramel* hair color. That's got to be so nice, I think i would lose my mind if I had the same hair color for 10 trillion years, even if she does rock the socks out of that crimson Joan Holloway red.

3. Claire Danes in Armani Prive'
This is just so damn elegant. She looks like a ballerina on crack. haha, just kidding. This is a great example of how clothes can augment a body type, Claire has a 10 mile long torso, but the distinct waist of this gown makes it look proportional and also, just gives the extra length to her legs, aka uber flattering. Awesome.

4. Kerry Washington in Marchesa
this is sooooooo pretty. omg. it just takes my breath away. I love that about Marchesa, they aren't trying to do *dead seckzy* they aren't trying to do *space cadet modern* they just want to do pretty, and they do it perfectly. The gauzy tulle, the flowers, it's just magical and beautiful and looks like she flew in on a cloud.

5. Kiernan Shipka in Delpozo
So young and fun. I love this look on her. She is an effervescent lady and this dress exemplifies that. I'm sure there were people that hated on it, but they can just suck it. Don Draper will kick their ass.

6. Laura Dern in Naeem Khan
Laura, I hate your face, but I love your dress. That detail work is just KILLING ME. And the soft coral color, it's just so so damn good. It's so perfect that it makes me look past her fluffy puppy-ear hairstyle and give her a Red Carpet A+

7. Lily Rabe in Vionnet
Little known fact: Lily Rabe is the sister of Broccoli Rabe, my favorite vegetable. So yes, I am probably biased in selecting her as one of my best dressed, but that's how nepotism works.

8. Sarah Silverman in Stop Staring (for $60)
Well it was 60 bucks, but now It's $152, which still is cheap! (buy it here)
Sarah knows bengaline is a girls best friend. I love that she just scored it online too. I've never been a huge fan of Sarah's because I get tired of the "I'm a really pretty girl that makes fart jokes" schtick. But now I like her because of this dress, and these SICK NASTEE SHOES OMGOMGOMGOMG!!
The shoes are by Walter Steiger and are on sale (buy them here) for $382. But they are RIDICULOUS! I LOVE THEM. That curved heel is so gorgeous it should be illegal. I can't even deal i love it so much.

9. Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang
I am extremely confident that if I wrapped Sofia in duct tape she would look like a trillion buck bombshell, this lady is just flawless. I mean, are you kidding me? this body? the red? OUT. OF. CONTROL.

10. Tina Fey in Narciso Rodriguez
Remember all those times on 30 Rock where Liz Lemon would self depricate about eating hoagies and having a "big can"? I seriously want to slap her face. Look at this beauty. I mean, nothing could be better than her in this color, this fit, this silhouette. it's just breath taking. Liz Lemon out.

F YEAH AWARDS SEASON!

Travel With Ease

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a safe and relaxing weekend! If I can recall correctly my first visit to the big apple was  with my friend Virginia. In a previous post I explained how we met. Virginia had been scheduled to take her language examine in NYC so she asked my to go. I remember it was like yesterday. I was in summer school  trying to finish up my general electives so I took Food & Nutrition for credit. The course was four instense weeks as I had a silly professor who gave us an entire 400 pages book and examines nearly every session.

The ironic part was the students who took her afternoon class explained how she barley held session with them because by time class lapsed over from the huge gap between her 11am and 5pm class, she was exhausted and the summer heat drained her. When Professor carrys on this way its usually a sign they don't know what their doing....

However, I opted to go visit NYC with my friend. We took the Gallery place China Bus because the tickets were super cheap but we  had  been on the side of the road for 4 hours because the bus broke down and not to mention it smelled like an sweaty  locker room. What Virginia and I didn't anticipate was our luggage or therefore the lack of it. We stayed on the famous Bowery Street and  of course as tourist we accumulated a large collection of NYC logo souvenirs.

We were very young and didn't know any better but if you know or have a young female friend consider Tepper  Jackson Canvas Carry On Tote. This is a very practical gift that will last for years. The tote is 50% off so get them while supplies last. Whether for over  the weekend or  extended stays this roomy bag is a must for the young lady in your life who likes to travel. Do you have any road trip stories with your gal pal from college? Do share. Did I mention by the way I skipped a schedule exam I was suppose to take in that awful Food & Nutrition class? LOL!! Have a great day!!

Book Review: Delirium by Lauren Oliver

Synopsis: The government requires that all teenagers be cured of love, aka amor deliria nervosa, to keep society safe. But 95 days before her treatment, Lena Haloway falls for a boy--and must face the truth about her own feelings and the world in which she lives.

Pages: 394

Rating: 8/10

Overall: An exciting dystopian novel that presents a very interesting idea of a world where love is forbidden. The foreboding detachment of the cured citizens provide a bleak but thought-provoking backdrop for a heady romance.

Shopping for Birthday *Glam* Dresses!

TO ME!!!!!

It's tuesday! Yay!!!! I love cake and presents!

So I obviously need something to wear. I'm going to the 3 D's: Drinks, Dinner & Drag Queen BINGO!

I went to Nordie's today in search of, I'm thinking there are 4 directions I can go:
  • Trendy
  • Glam
  • Sleek
  • or Cutesy

(shoes throughout are my own Michael Kors nude patent sandals)

1. Trendy
Bright Colored Lace courtesy of Cynthia Steffe
I really like this. It's a TAD short, as are all dresses in my size ALWAYS. but i think it's fun! I would probably style it with teal tights, a statement necklace and super high heels!

2. Glam
Pave' silver sequins by Erin Fetherston
The fit on this is really good! And I especially love it since Erin Fetherston was on Project Runway this week!

3. Sleek
Simple & Chic by the master of this.... Calvin Klein
The black insets are leather, and it just gives such a good shape. Carves out a nice hourglass into anyone's physique.

4. Cutesy
This gorgeous vintage inspired dress by TopShop
I love this one. but i have about 10 trillion dresses in my closet just like it.
it's a layered gazar-type fabric that stands out at the pleated bottom without a crinoline. I just adore it, and the fit is really good. The over-layer is embroidered with a floral print. And the blush tone just makes me feel like a princess!

I had them all held, and will make a decision next week!
What do you think? and also, what kind of cake should I have? Baked Cronut Alaska?
