Match Your Lipstick With Your Nail Polish

                                                     http://i1340.photobucket.com/albums/o728/Kathingofbeauty/ProfilePic1.jpg

Hi, there! I'm Kelly from the beauty blog A Thing of Beauty with a guest post on matching your lipstick with your nail polish-a common problem with an easy fix!

                       https://mail-attachment.googleusercontent.com/attachment/?ui=2&ik=acc30f5880&view=att&th=13f15eb8a37f15b5&attid=0.1&disp=inline&safe=1&zw&saduie=AG9B_P8316PQCUQ2tG0IajVJMqAZ&sadet=1370487060040&sads=Ywn3Cd6Y1_tZygC6xcSC9M3GX3A

Matching your nail polish to your lipstick can be tricky-especially since you don't want one to overpower the other. Here's four examples of how to match everything together!

-Milani's High Voltage lipstick with a heart glitter nail polish is a great way to wear red lipstick without being too matchy with red nails, as well. The hearts aren't a solid color so they definitely won't compete with some show stopper lips!

-Revlon's Minted nail polish with Wet 'n Wild's lipstick in Just Peachy is a really good color combo. Light peaches and mint greens also compliment each other well, despite being in opposite color families. They go great paired with a floral dress!

-Ulta's Super Shiny lipgloss in Whisper with a glittery gold nail polish is perfect for those who don't want to go full on with a lipstick. Because the lips aren't so impactful I love to pair them with a glittering, eye-catching nail polish!

-Milani's lipstick in Uptown Mauve for those who like a brighter, purple toned lip goes great with a grape polish. I used Wet 'n Wild's Bite the Bullet which is a great sheer polish to go with such a bright lip.

So there you have it-four ways to match your lipstick in harmony! Tell us in the comments below how you match your lipstick & nail polish!

Thanks for reading,

Kelly xoxo

Peace, Love & Style at the PeaceFest

When I moved to my town, I never thought there would be one iota of art-scene/Counter-culture elements here. And then I met my friend Denyse, and started participating in "Free Art Friday"(click here for info on that), and found that there are a lot of wonderful weirdos out there, and this made me extremely happy.
There is this cool cafe near me that hosts this super cool "PeaceFest" every year, and I've never gone. So this year I packed up myself and 3 European teenagers and went to experience it.
Here's what I wore:
Vintage dress, Target T, Belt made by Stonewash... Hair a freaking wad of crazy.

There were so many artists there musicians, all kinds of great interesting folks. These 2 young men were the *Style Stars* of the whole thing. I just loved them. They are painters, great artists.
Mr. Awesome Red Pants is *Schlaz* he has some large format paintings at the Ligne Roset gallery in downtown Birmingham his number is 248-933-1018 if you'd like to contact him and see his stuff, it's truly delightful.
Mr. Super Cool WayFarers is *Jack Evans* and you can email him at lucidsouldept@gmail.com to see his paintings.
They were both just so sweet and talented and oozing with creative joy. I love them.

How great is this necklace!!?? Made from bullet casings and ribbon and metal toy cars!
This was made by Marge Arita and I am in love with her mom, who sells me hair dye and is fabulous. Marge makes great jewelry out of guitar picks and marvelous items, so freaking beautiful.
Her number is 248-421-3155

I also got a henna tattoo done of my neck, because why the hell not?

The girl that does these is named Amanda and she does henna tattooing at the LA Cafe on a pretty regular basis, she can do parties (it would be a cool girls night out party) and she is just a marvelous artist, and the henna smells amazing, I'd like to sit with her all day.
To get info on Amanda, contact the LA Cafe :

Are We Limiting Ourselves?

Happy Monday. I hope you had a safe and relaxing weekend. I headed to my beloved Anacostia Park to get some exercise and it was lovely. I was just having a conversation with a girlfriend of mine about how she limited herself when it came to her aspirations. She told me a few years ago all she asked God for was the basics in life: a job, food, shelter and health insurance. Needless to say she got everything she prayed for and has found herself in a "rut" so to speak. She advised me to not limit myself when it comes to what I ask for. Employment, food, shelter and insurance are basics or even necessities that everyone is entitled too. However, I ask why are many folk afraid to ask for what our hearts truly desire and even pursue what we desire?  What I define as success may not be in someone else's eyes? Is the sky the limit or do we limit what we can have in life?

Chime for Change

I love a worthy cause especially one that promotes the well being of women. The Chime for Change concert was held yesterday and was headlined by Beyonce Knowles-Carter and other notable artist such a Jennifer Lopez and John Legend. I've never heard of the event prior to yesterday. However, it was founded by design house Gucci and is a new women's and girls empowerment initiative that promotes education, health and justice.

From left to right Blake Lively, Freda Pinto, and another red haired actress.

Blake Lively looks super cute in her white mini. I love her up do and turquoise jewelry. Freda Pinto I love love love your suit. I don't know if powdery red lips are Freda's signature but she does it well.  Personally I love when women wear androgynous inspired suits. I think Isabella Rossellini may have started this. I could be wrong but I remember her style was always masculine as is Diane Keaton's.

                                            Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez

Hmmm.....dueling diva's? People have always said Beyonce was another version of JLo... Or maybe they have the similar  taste??... On any account Bey and JLo look great.
