Hey guys! Today is the late great Aaliyah's birthday. The singer turned actress would've celebrated her 35th birthday! Amidst the well wishing for her birthday on social media, I wanted to remember Aaliyah for the style maven she was. Just the other day I stumbled across her video "One in A Million" on Vh1's Soul. It occurred to me that even today Aaliyah's style and music was way ahead of its time.
During that time a little not so widely known producer from Virginia called Timbaland was making hot tracks for Aaliyah and other new artist like Missy Elliott. As you guys know Timbaland is still making hits for artist like Justin Timberlake and Jay Z today. One In a Million has relevancy today and if she were a new artist, she would have an instant hit. Aaliyah described herself as "street but sweet" and her style was a combination of urban wear and high fashion. Remember those shades? This concludes my post.
