First half of NYFW F/W 2014/15 FAVIES!

Do you know why New York Fashion Week is important to you? Because it is like a crystal ball, it shows you what you will be wearing in the future.

Remember peplums?
They were shown on the NYFW runway about 2 years before they were seen (and bought) at mass market retailers.

So looking at this, it gives us something to look forward to, something to think "OOH THAT'S COOL! THAT'S DIFFERENT!" and then brace ourselves for season upon season til a version that we can afford is rolled out on a conveyor belt. LOL.

For this Fall Winter 2014/15 fashion week, I think the main theme has been *color* and *contrast*, my hands down favie so far has been the palette used at Altuzarra, below.

I mean how freaking fresh is this fuschia with the loden green color?
and the navy with the shot of royal blue. ahhh, i just love.

Jill Stuart stayed pretty safe, but did the midi skirts, that the fashion people are loving right now.
I did love this flirty little dress, below.

Juan Carlos Obando did some seckzy 1970s inspired jewel-toned evening, I still think the deep V looks fresh, especially on someone without breasts.
This look below, is so rich and languid. Very Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface.

The label Nonoo, did something neat and made the miniskirt into a midi, kind of. To cute effect.
I really like the detail on the T in the middle below. Very cool.

Ostwald Helgason did some major "cool girl" clothes. Sweatshirts with tiered skirts...
And these EDGY T's, where remember the "sticky fingers" LP cover. Well on a woman, our sticky banana is a breast. woooo weee.

As we figured, Prabal Gurung had some really rad, bright concepts to wrap the body.

Super awesome downtown girls rejoiced at the Rebecca Minkoff runway. I loved this skirt, below.

And this lame' dress with the menswear tailored jacket would be right at home in a smokey whisky bar, oh yeah, but you can't smoke anywhere anymore...

Another designer using color really well was Ruffian. Peridot dress with cobalt tights, yes, I would wear that.
And this pieced dress with the red tights is so awesome. I just love it.

Over at Zimmermann we were seeing these lite 90s goth hair/makeup with Colonel Sanders ties.
This dress reminded me of the one that Carrie wore on "Sex and the City" the Dior newspaper print one.
and this to me looks very 1990s Anna Sui babydoll.

So I love it so far.
We have many more Fashion Week shows to go, including a lot of the *Big Hitters*, which I will watch and then filter out all the good parts to show you. Of course. *muah muah*
